The price of desktop and similar computers, laptop and tablet computers, and servers fell 0.8% in April.
The decline was led by lower prices for tablet computers (-2.8%).
Laptop computers (-0.3%), servers (-1.0%) and desktop and similar computers (-0.2%) also recorded price decreases.
Prices for smartphones were unchanged in April.
The price for computer monitors and computer printers declined 0.2% as a result of lower prices for computer printers (-0.3%).
Laser printers (-0.2%) and inkjet printers (-0.8%) recorded price decreases, while prices for computer monitors were unchanged.
Year over year, prices for desktop and similar computers, laptop and tablet computers, and servers fell 2.9%. Prices for computer monitors and computer printers were down 0.2%.
Note to readers
The computer and peripherals price indexes are monthly series that measure changes over time in the price of computers, computer peripherals and smartphones sold to governments, businesses and households. With each release, data for the previous six months may have been revised. The indexes are not seasonally adjusted.
These indexes are available at the Canada level only.
