1. Excludes data from Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Quebec, Manitoba and Saskatchewan due to the unavailability of data.
2. In Nova Scotia, the transition to new regulations for family proceedings, which came into force July 1, 2010, may account for the decrease in the number of divorce cases initiated between 2009/2010 and 2010/2011.
3. Alberta data are not available for 2006/2007. Alberta data for family cases at the superior court level (which would include all divorce cases) are available for the final 6 months of 2007/2008 only.
4. Divorce cases in British Columbia may be under-represented since the family matter is unknown in 10% of all family cases.
Note: Initiated refers to divorce cases newly started during the year.
