Executive Summary
The Data Visualization Feedback Form was developed to solicit feedback from visitors to the Statistics Canada Web site on proposals for the Data Visualization Initiative which is developing new enhanced ways to present data on the Web site. This online form offers users an opportunity to provide input into the planning and future research on data visualization of Statistics Canada data.
Objectives
A privacy impact assessment for the feedback form was conducted to determine if there were any privacy, confidentiality and security issues associated with the web application, and if so, to make recommendations for their resolution or mitigation.
Description
As a common practice with online feedback type forms, participants are asked to provide feedback on specific (core) questions. They are also asked for their name, telephone number, city, and their e-mail address which may be used to contact them for other consultations on Web applications.
Participants are informed via a privacy notice that Statistics Canada will not sell, distribute, trade or transfer their personal information to other government departments, businesses, organizations or individuals outside the Agency for commercial or any other purposes, unless required by law. The information they provide will be kept confidential and will be used only for the specified purposes.
Conclusion
This assessment of the Data Visualization Feedback Form did not identify any privacy risks that cannot be managed using existing safeguards.
