General Social Survey – Canadians at Work and Home

We are conducting a survey about the lives of Canadians at work and at home. The survey explores people’s views about work, work-life balance, participation in sports and culture, use of technology, and health and well-being. Information from this survey will be used to develop programs and policies to help Canadians in a wide variety of circumstances. Your information may also be used by Statistics Canada for other statistical and research purposes.

Your answers are collected under the authority of the Statistics Act and will be kept strictly confidential.

Data sharing agreements and record linkage

To enhance data from this survey and to minimize the reporting burden for respondents, Statistics Canada will combine survey responses with information from personal and household tax records to obtain data on personal and household income. Statistics Canada may also combine your responses with information from other surveys or administrative data sources.

Topics related to work such as team work, work ethic, work intensity and work satisfaction, just to name a few; sports and outdoor activities; cultural pursuits; use of technology; eating habits; health; family time; interaction between household members; stress management; life purpose; future opportunities, and many other socio-demographic questions.
