What is the Canadian Survey on Working Conditions (CSWC)?
Statistics Canada has enhanced the Labour Force Survey (LFS) program with the CSWC, a survey dedicated to better understanding the working conditions of Canadians. After respondents have completed their 6 months of participation in the LFS, approximately 37,000 individuals will be contacted to answer additional questions related to the quality of their employment.
What topics are covered in the survey?
The CSWC covers a wide range of topics, each of which has been shown to affect the well-being of workers in a positive or negative way. This includes:
- the physical and social environment at work
- work time quality
- discrimination
- access to training
- work-life satisfaction
Why should I participate in the survey?
The CSWC aims to measure all core dimensions of the quality of employment to better understand how different job characteristics are distributed across the employed population. By collecting important information about challenging physical working conditions, the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in the workplace, job security, and career prospects—among other topics—the survey results may be used to assist employers and governments design policies to reduce health and safety risks and better understand the impact of AI on organizations and their workforce.
Your participation in this survey is voluntary; however, your participation ensures survey results are complete and representative of the entire population.
How will you safeguard the confidentiality of my information?
As with all Statistics Canada surveys, any information provided will remain confidential pursuant to the Statistics Act. Statistics Canada takes the privacy of Canadians very seriously. Published data can never identify you or your household.
