Today, Statistics Canada released its Disaggregated Data Action Plan Accomplishments Report 2023-2024: An Evolving Mosaic.
The report showcases progress made in the third year of the plan’s implementation to support more representative data collection and enhanced statistics on Indigenous Peoples, women, racialized groups, and persons with disabilities.
In the third year of implementation, Statistics Canada, working in collaboration with other partners, has notably:
- Included disaggregated data in 49% of analytical products related to the economic, social, and health domains.
- Funded provincial departments and universities to strengthen their disaggregated administrative data collections.
- Developed a new online course entitled “The Importance of Disaggregated Data: An Introduction” (part 1 and part 2) to explain how the use of disaggregated data can help policymakers develop more targeted and effective policies.
- Updated national statistical standards including the gig economy, the sexual orientation of person, the gender and sex at birth of person, and published new webpages to promote disaggregated standards and to centralize all relevant components to support standards implementation by users.
- Released the executive report on the 2023-2024 Deliberative Public Engagement Research Project exploring the social acceptability surrounding the use of person-based linked administrative data.
- Consulted and informed Canadians on the review of the “visible minority” concept in preparation for the 2026 Census.
