Federal science and technology spending for fiscal year 2013/2014 is anticipated to decline 3.3% from 2012/2013 to $10.5 billion. Research and development spending is expected to represent about two-thirds (64.4%) of the anticipated science and technology expenditures.
New estimates for federal science and technology spending are now available for fiscal years 2011/2012 to 2013/2014.

The Federal Science Expenditures and Personnel, Activities in the Social Sciences and Natural Sciences is an annual survey of all federal government departments and agencies believed to be performing or funding science and technology activities. Data for this release cycle were collected between September 10, 2012 and January 11, 2013.
