Computer and peripherals price indexes, March 2017

The price of desktop and similar computers, laptop and tablet computers, and servers was unchanged in March.

Lower prices for desktop and similar computers (-0.6%) were offset by higher prices for tablet computers (+0.7%), while laptop computers and servers recorded no price change.

Prices for smartphones declined 0.2% in March.

The price for computer monitors and computer printers advanced 0.2%, as a result of higher prices for computer printers (+0.2%).

Year over year, prices for desktop and similar computers, laptop and tablet computers, and servers declined 1.3%. Prices for computer monitors and computer printers were down 0.1%.

  Note to readers

The computer and peripherals price indexes are monthly series that measure the changes over time in the price of computers, computer peripherals and smartphones sold to governments, businesses and households. With each release, data for the previous six months may have been revised. The indexes are not seasonally adjusted.

These indexes are available at the Canada level only.
