It's the first stop when looking for a reference for quality management.

In May 2017, the StatCan Blog looks at the release of the third edition of the Statistics Canada Quality Assurance Framework, a document that outlines the principles and strategies adopted by the agency to ensure that it continues to produce high-quality data.

Quality is more than a catchphrase at Statistics Canada; it is central to everything the agency does. That is why the framework plays a crucial role in many activities, from corporate planning and risk assessment to program design and stakeholder consultation.

In fact, the framework is a solid reference guide for anyone working in official statistics—inside or outside of Statistics Canada.

The new guide comes 15 years after the last edition. Since 2002, much has changed in the way statistical agencies gather and disseminate information, but the basic tenets of data quality and the ability to produce trusted and reliable information remain paramount.
