Every day, Canadians form opinions and make decisions based on data. However, who decides the information needs, what data are collected and how they are used?

Statistics Canada, along with other statistical agencies around the globe, is celebrating World Statistics Day. As part of this celebration, during the week of October 15 to 19, Statistics Canada will host its first ever "Engaging Canadians: Statistics Canada's National Dialogue," which will feature online consultations, virtual forums, teleconferences and roundtable discussions in cities across Canada with businesses, academia, citizens and others. In addition, all Canadians are invited to participate in an online survey from October 15 to 19, 2018.

Through this national consultation, the agency is striving to learn more about the information needs of Canadians and to continuously improve its programs, products and services to meet the statistical needs of a data-driven society.

Want to be part of these decisions? Please join the conversation. Your views and suggestions will guide changes to modernize the country's statistical agency—Statistics Canada. We look forward to hearing from you.
