Coal and coke statistics, December 2018

Coal production decreased 4.6% year over year to 4.8 million tonnes in December.

Monthly data for December on the production and export volumes of coal, by coal type and use, are now available. Data are available at the national level and by coal-producing province.

Monthly data for December on the volume of coal received by coal coke plants and the volume of coke produced and sold are also available at the national level only.

  Note to readers

The purpose of this release is to provide a monthly indicator of the supply of coal and coke in Canada.

Data have been revised from January 2015 to December 2017.

In early 2019, this Daily article will be part of a new consolidated monthly energy release where data from multiple monthly energy surveys will be released on the same day.
