Statistics Canada, in partnership with the National Energy Board, Natural Resources Canada, and Environment and Climate Change Canada, has launched the Canadian Energy Information Portal. This webpage provides Canadians with a single point of access to a wide variety of statistics and measures of the country's energy sector. The portal offers an array of information on topics such as energy production, consumption, international trade, transportation and prices.

The portal also features an interactive dashboard that provides a comprehensive picture of the Canadian energy sector, with a focus on monthly and provincial statistics. The portal will be updated regularly, and expanded to include additional functionalities and harmonized information.

This webpage has been created in response to growing demand for consolidated energy information and supports Statistics Canada's shift toward a more collaborative model to ensure Canadians have access to a broad range of statistics. Budget 2019 allocated funds for increased access to comparable, consolidated energy data through the creation of a virtual data centre combining information from across federal, provincial and territorial organizations.

Feedback from the Canadian Energy Information Portal will be used to guide the development of the Canadian Centre for Energy Information. Input can be sent to the portal's email address (statcan.energyportalinfo-infoportailenergie.statcan@canada.ca).

The Canadian Energy Information Portal is now available.

Also available today is the data visualization product, "Energy statistics: Interactive dashboard."
