The July 2021 issue of Health Reports contains two articles.

The study "Acute-care hospitalizations among First Nations people, Inuit and Métis: Results from the 2006 and 2011 Canadian Census Health and Environment Cohorts" presents sex-specific hospitalization rates among Indigenous peoples in Canada (excluding Quebec), separately for First Nations people living on and off reserve, Inuit living in Inuit Nunangat (excluding Nunavik), Métis, and the non-Indigenous population. This is the first national study to examine sex-specific hospitalization rates among Indigenous people and investigate patterns over time.

The second article provides information on data that shed light on the family environment, an important influence on the health and behaviours of children. "Data profile: Expanding the research potential of the Canadian Health Measures Survey using paired respondent data" highlights the unique features, recommendations for use and research potential of the paired respondent records available in the Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS) relationship files. These data, which include detailed and objectively measured health data about multiple individuals from the same family who are living in the same household, provide unique opportunities to researchers to examine associations between two members of the same household for health behaviours and outcomes.
