New products related to languages

Three new analytical and data products related to languages are published today.

First, a series of regional infographics presenting the number and some characteristics of businesses owned by members of official language minorities is published. These infographics were created on behalf of Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada and present results for the regions that correspond to each of Canada's seven Regional Development Agencies.

A technical note titled "Choosing the reference population for census statistics on language of work" is also made available. This note discusses the choice of the reference population for census statistics on language of work and presents the approach on the matter adopted by Statistics Canada when disseminating data from the 2021 Census of Population.

Finally, an update was made to a table containing historical data on knowledge of official languages in Canada, in Canada outside Quebec, as well as in each province and territory, for all census years from 1951 to 2021.
