Privacy Notice Statement

This portal was developed to enable researchers to submit and manage their projects. Your personal information is collected under the authority of sections 5 and 6 of the Statistics Act for the purpose of administering your application as well as managing and monitoring user access to secure computing environments. If you choose not to provide your personal information, StatCan will not be able to process your application, which will result in your inability to access confidential microdata through the Research Data Centre Program.

Limited personal information, as well as information about the project, may be disclosed to trusted partner organizations in order to manage your project, e.g., to verify affiliation and accreditation, to recover costs from sponsoring parties, or to support the operation and monitoring of the program and infrastructure. When it is necessary to transmit information to trusted partner organizations, contact information and project details will be transmitted by unencrypted email.

For the purpose of public transparency, Statistics Canada also displays on its website a list of projects that have been approved within the last 12 months. The published information includes your project title, name of principal investigator and datasets used.

You have the right to the protection of, access to, and correction of your personal information, which is described in Personal Information Bank StatCan PPU 810. Instructions for obtaining this information are outlined in Information about programs and information holdings.

You have the right to file a complaint with the Privacy Commissioner of Canada regarding the institution’s handling of your personal information.
