January 27 is International Holocaust Remembrance Day, observed by Canadians and individuals all over the world. In 2005, the United Nations General Assembly officially proclaimed the 27th as the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of the Holocaust.
The 2021 Census counted just over 335,000 people identifying as Jewish in Canada, representing about 1% of the population.
In 2022, there were 750 religiously motivated hate crimes in Canada reported by police. This was down 15% from a peak in 2021.
