It’s spring, which means vacation planning for many Canadians is in full swing! Some of those plans might mean a road trip, covering a chunk of the approximately one million kilometres of public roads in Canada.
And for those who enjoy the journey as much as the destination, it means travelling in a recreational vehicle (RV). Still, many vacationers like to take their home on wheels to an RV-friendly destination. Here are a few key RV numbers from our most recent business counts.
Buying, leasing or renting
Taking the plunge and buying an RV? In December 2023, there were 1,128 RV dealers across Canada. Business locations in this industry also typically retail replacement parts and accessories and provide repair services.
Prefer to rent? In the same month, there were 1,753 business locations nationwide in the truck, utility trailer and RV rental and leasing industry. Businesses in this industry also rent or lease travel, camping or recreational trailers in addition to RVs.
Where to go
Also in December 2023, there were 2,920 RV parks and campgrounds across Canada. Locations in this industry primarily offer serviced or unserviced sites to accommodate campers and their equipment. Services include facilities such as washrooms, laundry rooms, stores and snack bars.
